The Original Ornament offers professional restring of your personal jewelry. This labor charge for this service varies depending on the size and complexity of the piece. However, in general, the labor is charged by the inch and begins at $.75 for straight restringing and up to $1.75 per inch for more complex pieces.

The restringing is done in-house by our restringing staff, and there is usually no more than a two-week turn around time for the restringing to be completed*. This period may slightly longer during the Holiday season.**(please see below)

In general, the restringing rates are as follows:

.75 per inch for straight stringing
.95 per inch for straight stringing on graduated pieces (where the beads get bigger in the center of the necklace)
occasional knotting (at least every 5 beads)
$1.50 per inch for knotting-tiny knots between every bead
$1.75 per inch for knotting on graduated pieces

*There is a rush charge that is added onto the restringing price when the piece is needed within the 2 week turn around time. This charge is $10.00 or 20%, whichever is greater.

**Holiday Restringing for 2007:
Restringing taken in after November 22nd will be completed by Jan 15th at regular rates
Restring rates will double for two week turn around (Nov 22nd to Dec 9th)
Straight stringing $1.50/inch
Occasional knotting and graduated stringing $1.90/inch
Knotting $3.00/inch
Graduated knotting $3.50/inch
After Dec 9th everything will be completed by Jan 15th
